While many people have used Intercom and know to click the little chat bubble at the bottom of the page if they want to engage with you, you can't count on that. We recommend that you offer options in your app that deep link to the Intercom Messenger (clicking a link will open the app). Intercom discusses how to do this in great detail in their help center.
